Key Democratic group pours $186 million in battle for House and preps for ‘trench warfare' with GOP
House Democrats are seeking just four more seats to regain the majority in the fall elections. House Majority PAC, the super PAC associated with Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, is planning to spend a record-breaking $186 million on TV and digital ads in key media markets across the country. Their strategy is focused on pickup opportunities in districts carried by Joe Biden in 2020 that are now held by Republicans, as well as defending seats in districts won by Donald Trump. The ad campaign will target swing voters and key voting blocs, using aggressive tactics including attacks on Republicans over abortion and border security. Despite redistricting narrowing the competitive seats, the group sees a clear path to achieving their goal. House Majority PAC intends to spend notably in New York, California, Arizona, Michigan, and Montana. They also plan to spend heavily in media markets such as Los Angeles, Fresno, Bakersfield, New York City, and Philadelphia. A significant portion of their investment will go toward defending vulnerable Democratic seats. The group’s investment amounts to the largest ever for a House committee in a fall advertising campaign. The Congressional Leadership Fund, the GOP super PAC, is also preparing its ad reservations for the fall and believes they can retain the majority. Biden’s presence at the top of the ticket may pose challenges for Democrats in districts won by Trump, but House Majority PAC remains confident in their ability to outperform. The group is prioritizing early ad reservations in states with key Senate races and presidential battlegrounds. They are also prepared for a vigorous GOP effort to attack them on immigration and Biden’s handling of the border.
